Bird on a Wire

On my mile walk, this is what I saw.  I have never seen a long legged bird on a wire before.  He's just a speck on the middle right of the picture.

His Closeup

I love seeing what I can find.  Butterflies don't light, ducks don't stand still, but I manage to find something when I walk all around the neighborhoods.

With a little help from my friends/family

I wanted to share my simple joys of Christmas.  Katy knew my decorations would be sparse this year, thinking about the loss of my father. She put together the Basket of Lights with fresh Christmas tree boughs. It is beautiful and smells devine.  My daughter found the small table top Creche (this is always a must every year). Of course, my stocking. . .  This is a wonderful tribute to friends/family that they pull together to help my Christmas be so special.

Christmas aprons

Finally got to the aprons.  Now to do the quilt.  Whew, no rest. . . .

Tomorrow is not promised us,
So let us take today
And make the very most of it
The once we pass this way.

Christmas Dolls

Busy sewing and making more dolls.  These two are anxious to be adopted and see all the trimmings.  The blonde has snowflakes on her dress and the red head has puppies on her dress.  Both are trying to find a proper Christmas hat.

Birthday Present

Another Best friend and I spent the day looking at all the beautiful things at a craft show a couple of weeks ago. We found the bracelets - so many.  I never wear jewelry, but I think it's about time. I wear 1/2 of them at a time (no night time dates yet, lol) and love them.  They jingle and jangle and make me feel important.  I enjoy wearing them. I have her with me each and every time I wear them.  And, she knows owls are my favorite. . .

PBC Quilts at the 1913 Delray Beach School House

This quilt show is through October 23.  Take a look, the school house is beautiful, the quilts are amazing, and the ideas just keep coming.  The picture below uses zippers.
Picture on right was 'painted' using Crayons (totally). There is also an amazing Crayon exhibit.

And of course, the yellow cottage, this is just a taste of the show.

Blessings,
Janet

Fashion Night Out Thursday, Sept. 8, 2011

My girlfriend and I had a fabulous night out.  We went to Brio's for a light supper, then into the mall.  People, stores, everyone was smiling, and having a great time.  The fashion show at Saks was fun.

I met someone with a vintage outfit. She said she loves shopping for vintage and always wears it. She was just there for the fun of it too.  The hat was fantastic.

The Betsey Johnson "Marilyn" watch is a definite for my Birthday List.  Yes, Betsey has a store in the mall.  The most fun.

My girlfriend and I felt that we had been taken out of our world and dropped into another.  To have that wonderful ambiance is hard to come by these days.  The whole experience was awesome.

1963 Mercury Comet

That was my very first car.  Little Red beauty.  The only thing she didn't have was power steering, so she was hard to parallel park (none of those pull in places around back then in small towns).  I tried to find one, but will have to shove it in here when I find it.  I bought it with a Playboy bunny sticker in the front passenger window.  I didn't remove it, after all I had been to a Chicago play GREASE and walked down the street and found Betsey Johnson designs in the window and Sat. night hit the Playboy Bunny Club, so I felt it was only fair I kept it in the window.  A weekend in Chicago was a treat, especially the professional play, for a small town Normal, IL gal.  Have a great Weekend.

Betsey Johnson Watches

I have followed Betsey Johnson since the 1960s when I saw her designs in a window downtown Chicago. Walking home from the play GREASE, on a dark avenue, my eyes found the designs I thought were awesome.  I didn't know anything about her.  I love that she still does cartwheels after her shows. And look at her new watch collection.  I certainly have my fave picked out.

Full Moon and Meteor Shower

Tonight is a full moon.
Full Sturgeon Moon – August The fishing tribes are given credit for the naming of this Moon, since sturgeon, a large fish of the Great Lakes and other major bodies of water, were most readily caught during this month. A few tribes knew it as the Full Red Moon because, as the Moon rises, it appears reddish through any sultry haze. It was also called the Green Corn Moon or Grain Moon.
The Perseid Meteor shower is also tonight.  We've had rain since 6 p.m. and it's still raining, not sure this is going to bode well for sightings.  It was cloudy last night here.  But be sure wherever you are to go outside and see both.  It should be quite spectacular.

Sunset

Emily did not come to see us, although she is right outside the door, still.  However, 'they' say she will go away.  The sunset was beautiful.  God painted the sky a bright pink and brushed over other parts of the sky.  Palm trees are beautiful against the backdrop of the sky.  Blessings, JKW

Emily

What's in a name!  Emily is my daughters best friend from Australia.  Emily is the name my daughter wanted to name one of her four daughters, but didn't.  Emily is the name of the storm/hurricane (?) that could disrupt a NASA launch and my plans for the weekend.  They have predicted anywhere from a little rain to a Cat 1.  But they just plain don't know.  Yes, we know, sometimes weeks in advance, but when it is the last minute like this one . . . . Now what!!??

In 1999 they made a wrong call.  They said it wouldn't come near us, albeit over the center part of the state.  We lost our power at 9 p.m.  At midnight we got up and turned on the battery radio and at just that moment the announcer said, "The Eye is just now going over us."  The Eye OF What???  Irene.  We had no ice and by the next morning the water was to our doorstep. . . no way of getting ice.  We lost everything in 2 refrigerators.  I would like to think that things have changed. . . . . .

Blessings,
JKW

Lighthouse where I live

I live not far from the ocean, but too far to go frequently.  The view, the moods and the patterns, therefore, escape me.  I know the ocean changes color as the weather changes and the seasons. The lighthouse is a beacon to guide. Are you a guiding beacon for someone?   Blessings, JKW

Roof Roof

Next project my condo admin thought up. . . . do it now!!  What happened to waiting three years?  So much for that.  Need a place to go when they come work on my building!!  Loud, smelly, and too long! Flat roofs are a pain, but we'll get through it and go on.  I just hope they know what they are doing and don't do any practical jokes. . . . . Blessings, Janet

International Space Station

Atlantis landed July 21 at 5:57 a.m.  I was outside looking for it amongst the most starry night I have seen in a very very long time.  The moon was a little more than 1/2.  I thought I saw the shuttle overhead.  But I found out that the International Space Station was going over within 10 minutes of the shuttle landing.  I am sure it was the ISS that I saw, not the shuttle, b/c it wasn't streaking and it was more toward the east.  Awesome!!  Amazing and Amazing and it's now ended.  I found a picture of the shuttle with a rainbow behind it.  Blessings, Janet

Warm sand and Ocean blues

That's what I see when I look at this picture Houzz has on their sight.  I have my own Idea Book on this site and have added this picture to it. I see this setting in my cottage of the future.
Ocean/water is an important ingredient for Life.  I guess being a water sign, I need to be near water.  I love the color of Sunshine, therefore a yellow cottage is definitely in the mix.
Fruits and veggies (without poison spray that is now being used) is important, so a garden is necessary. . . and flowers. Which, in turn, brings the birds, the hummers (with their own feeders), squirrels, chipmunks. . . . . .
Looking. .. from NH to Cornwall to Brittany. . . . I have some traveling to do - in my near future.
Blessings,
JKW

Stormy No More

My friend Carol wrote about Anger. She used a picture of a stormy sky.  She wants 3 questions answered and gave 7 suggestions on how to turn a corner and make a new beginning.  Carol of Art Muse Dog-Share the Creative Journey is quite profound.  I find her helpful and her artwork imaginative and her pups remarkable.
Anger no more.  Did not realize I was mostly working with angry people in my life time.  No more. I am much more at peace now.  Working world took a lot out of me and put very little back.
She talks about our dreams, they have changed. At retirement, my dreams and thoughts became totally different.  Now I see dreams, not as dreams, but as reality and how I want that to become.
What did I want to do when I grew up?  Be a model, no kidding, I had no chance. But then I changed that to Dress Designing.  Am I doing that?  Sort of, with my dolls.  My dolls have unique and different outfits.  I don't do it as much as if I were a people designer, but I have designed, made the patterns and sewn the clothes myself.
Now, I want to live in other countries and feel other worlds.  A drawback (at first) is the dollar is so weak, I would be only living on half of what I take in.  However, I would be gaining another life. It will work out the way it is suppose to.

Toss the Fear.  Envision it, Believe it, Decide it, Activate it.

Thank you Carol.
Blessings,
JKW

Be the Light

Be the solution, not the problem.  Be the Sunshine not the rain.
There will be issues and rain (cannot have a rainbow without the rain and the sunshine) everything changes with Attitude.  Give yourself positive reinforcers to help with the attitude adjustment.
How to approach an issue is to remember no one sees an issue the same way.  With that in mind, you know someone else will take a stand and believe they are right.  They may be right, but they may not be right for you and your perspective.  No reason for anger. . . . there may be a need for a new solution.
Every passing moment is a chance to turn it all around.
You are one decision away from changing your life.  Be the Light.
Blessings, JKW

Believe

Take chances. .  . a lot of them.  Because, honestly, it always ends up the way it was meant to be.

I always felt held back when I was with someone (hubby, fiance - both gone), but as I look back, I wasn't. It only felt that way.  Have to look out for 'feelings' which do not apply.  I just didn't know it then. . . or how to 'feel' differently.  Big mistake. . . needed to know how to put the happy in and keep it there!

I did what I had to do (and hated the choices open to women at the time - Avon, retail) and what I wanted to do vacation/travel (perhaps not nearly as often as I would have chosen). . . with family. . . from California, to (the real) Atlantic City. . . from NY to FL . . . to TX. . . and now . . .

I predict overseas travel is in the mix.

Good grief, what happened to the dollar?  Have to get That fixed.. .. .. Per-Haps!  Do Not let anything stand in your way, it will work out the way it is suppose to be.

Believe and you will achieve.

Blessings,
JKW

Birds

I love birds.  Mocking Birds in the neighborhood attack my hair.  Nesting building perhaps.  It is particularly bad this year.  So bad I stopped walking down to fetch the mail.  Consequently, no sunlight, doc says Vitamin D3. I had no idea there would be consequences to not being outside regularly.
We have ducks in the neighborhood.  Sweet waddling huge ducks.  Everyone is careful with their cars and they go where the please.  Out for their daily stroll through the neighborhood.

Flocks of egrets in the backyard looking for something to eat.
I never miss a chance for a picture.

If I could only find owls in the neighborhood, I would be happy.  The Eagles are by the river, but I don't know where the hummingbirds are.  Might be too warm for them.

Blessings,
Janet
